Michael Linke, an Aussie working in Namibia to provide bicycles for empowerment, joined Ali Moore and Malcolm Fraser, former prime minister of Australia and founder of Care Australia, to discuss charity and philanthropy. They were joined by Leigh Stewart from Oxfam.

June 5, 2008-  Michael is an Australian whose previous work was in magazine publishing. He briefly edited Australian Cyclist, and worked for four years at ReNew, a magazine aimed at people designing, making and using solar, wind, and biofuel energy devices. In less than three years Michael has grown BEN Namibia from a small NGO that initially employed one mechanic and distributed three bicycles in its first month, into a dynamic and rapidly growing organisation that has implemented eight community based bicycle shops, developed a bicycle ambulance for emergency medical transport and delivered 50 throughout the country, conducted research into the impact of transport on access to treatment for people living with HIV/AIDS, trained over 100 people in bicycle mechanics, directly created jobs for 30 people and helped close to 5,000 disadvantaged Namibians, many of them HIV/AIDS home based care volunteers, to gain access to affordable transport in the form of bicycles.
